A silver-gilt and shaded cloisonné enamel kovsh in the 17th century manner, of
flat shape with fleur-de-lis handle, the central boss with a stylized double-headed
eagle, a Monomakh crown above, on cream ground, decorated on all sides with stylized
foliage and geometric motifs - signed with initials of Fedor Rückert, assay mark
of Moscow 1908-1917, length 10 3/4 (27.2 cm)
The decoration of this kovsh, with its renaissance of designs harking back to
the early 17th century, indicates a connection with the Romanov Tercentenary festivities
of 1913, when double-headed eagles and the Monomakh crown were frequently employed.
