A rectangular silver and cloisonné enamel commemorative plaque engraved with the
cruiser Rurik, with a champlevé enamel inscription beneath, the outer frame with
squares at the corners decorated with polichrome foliage in the traditional Pan
Slavic manner - stamped with the Imperial Warrant mark of Pavel Ovchinnikov, assay
mark of Moscow 1890, length 6.5 inches (16.5 cm). The inscription reads: " The
20-gun armored cruiser, whose building by the Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg
was begun on 12 May 1890, in presence of Their Imperial Majesties the Emperor
and Empress, Her Majesty the Queen of Greece and His Highness General Admiral
Alexei Alexandrovich.” Original fitted case.
